The inspector will be tasked with the daily documentation of labor and equipment utilized by contractors, detailed descriptions of work performed, and relevant discussions with contractors. Additional responsibilities encompass assisting with administrative duties such as drafting cross-sections and calculating earthwork quantities, reporting directly to the Senior Inspector or Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess ongoing work for compliance with project plans and specifications
  • Evaluate the quality of completed installations against established standards
  • Maintain comprehensive records of construction inspection activities
  • Create sketches of construction deviations from the original plans
  • Examine materials used in the project
  • Interpret specifications concerning materials and workmanship
  • Safely operate a company vehicle to and from job sites
  • Conduct all activities in accordance with safety regulations
  • Participate actively in safety meetings
  • Ensure consistent and reliable attendance
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Civil Engineering is preferred
  • Over five years of experience in construction inspection
  • Experience with ALDOT Bridge construction is mandatory
  • Certification in Alabama for various inspection aspects is required
  • Proficient in intermediate mathematics and geometry
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work outdoors for the majority of the time
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Capable of standing for a minimum of eight hours daily
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and climb as necessary
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate a company vehicle
