Essential Qualifications:

Security Clearance:
- A Department of Defense Secret security clearance is mandatory at the time of hiring. Candidates selected will undergo a U.S. Government security investigation and must fulfill eligibility criteria for access to classified information. U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.

The Senior Advanced Engineering Technician for Preventative Maintenance Planning will ensure that preventative maintenance is scheduled in accordance with government policies to maximize equipment operational readiness on U.S. Naval vessels. You will coordinate the Preventative Maintenance schedule and assist in identifying materials necessary for executing preventative maintenance during all ship availabilities.

Your responsibilities will include maintaining and updating the PMS deck Maintenance Index Pages (MIPs) and associated Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs) Library for various classes of ships. Updates will be based on Force Revisions/Advance Change Notices (ACNs) issued by the relevant Navy technical authority. You will report any anomalies to technical management and maintain logs of preventative maintenance status as required. In cases of discrepancies or errors in an MRC or if a maintenance action needs alteration due to equipment modifications, you will identify the issue to the Government and prepare a Technical Feedback Report (TFBR) for submission.

Technical Expertise:
This position requires proficiency in working from technical manuals, vendor documentation, schematics, and engineering drawings to support the preventative maintenance efforts of the ships. Familiarity with U.S. Navy 3-M Preventative Maintenance System (PMS) policies and NAVSEALOGCEN policies is expected. The role will be based in a dynamic environment, supporting ships and may involve travel to various domestic and international ports as necessary, with an estimated travel requirement of 10%.

Leadership and Mentorship:
The Senior Advanced Engineering Technician will also serve as a leader and mentor to new technicians, supporting engineering activities such as design, testing, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, and specialized test equipment. Responsibilities may include:
  • Interpreting complex engineering drawings, diagrams, and schematics while understanding necessary interfaces.
  • Conducting complex system-level troubleshooting down to the component level.
  • Utilizing schematics, diagrams, and defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and troubleshooting functions.
  • Laying out, building, calibrating, adjusting, installing, and maintaining equipment, components, devices, or systems.
