Position Overview

MedStar Health is seeking a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist to provide essential speech-language pathology services. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to screening, assessment, treatment planning, and documentation across diverse healthcare settings.

The Speech-Language Pathologist plays a crucial role in program development and collaborates with the healthcare team to achieve established objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations, including reviewing relevant historical data, performing targeted assessments, and formulating recommendations. Communicate evaluation results and treatment plans effectively to patients and their families, ensuring their involvement in goal-setting.
  • Exhibit expertise in executing treatment protocols tailored to evaluation outcomes and patient needs. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals as necessary, and document any changes in patient conditions that may require adjustments to the care plan.
  • Facilitate thorough discharge planning and aftercare, ensuring timely and accurate documentation of patient interactions, including initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Demonstrate strong time management skills and meet productivity benchmarks while maintaining an organized schedule. Show a commitment to providing seamless patient access to care through adaptability and empathy.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and education to enhance personal and organizational competencies. Act as a mentor and clinical instructor for students and new staff members.
Qualifications:
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a clinical fellowship year (CFY).
  • Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and/or Virginia as required.
  • Certification of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
