Position Overview

MedStar Medical Group is seeking a dedicated Speech Language Pathologist to provide exceptional care in various healthcare settings.

The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for delivering comprehensive speech-language pathology services. This includes conducting screenings and evaluations, developing treatment plans, implementing therapy, reassessing progress, planning for discharge, and maintaining thorough documentation.

As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Speech Language Pathologist contributes to program development and collaborates with colleagues to achieve shared objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough evaluations by reviewing relevant patient history, performing targeted assessments, and formulating recommendations while documenting findings. Communicate evaluation results and treatment plans effectively to patients and their families, involving them in goal-setting.
  • Exhibit expertise in executing treatment protocols based on evaluation outcomes, patient conditions, and the dynamic healthcare landscape. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals as necessary and document any changes in the patient's condition that may require adjustments to the care plan.
  • Manage discharge planning and follow-up care effectively. Ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient care activities, including initial evaluations, daily notes, progress summaries, and discharge assessments.
  • Demonstrate strong time management skills and meet productivity standards while maintaining an organized schedule. Show a commitment to providing seamless patient access to care through adaptability and empathy.
  • Proactively pursue continuing education opportunities for professional development and organizational competency. Serve as a mentor and clinical instructor for students and new staff.

Qualifications:

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a clinical fellowship year (CFY).
  • Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Maryland, District of Columbia (DC), and/or Virginia as required.
  • American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence.
