Payroll Specialist II Job Description

OpTech is a woman-owned company that values your ideas, encourages your growth, and always has your back. As a Payroll Specialist II, you will be responsible for performing on-line edits and corrections to the payroll system, communicating with clients' programmers, and testing pay issues. You will also calculate special check requests, audit requests by departments and HR, and process internal adjustments for employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-line edits and corrections to the payroll system
  • Communicate with clients' programmers and test pay issues
  • Calculate special check requests and audit requests by departments and HR
  • Process internal adjustments for employees
  • Perform difficult and detailed corrections of the exception time report edits
  • Review and validate Kronos schedules and timekeeping duties
  • Answer complex questions via phone inquiries from clients' employees, timekeepers, management personnel, and Human Resources
  • Communicate with employees and management regarding questions and concerns related to their paycheck and related calculations
  • Process garnishment checks and mail checks with legal statements to requestors
  • Prepare stop payment and voided checks in a timely manner
  • Process deductions from employee paychecks
  • Calculate incorrect payments and process necessary adjustments
  • Independently select, interpret, and apply proper codes, rules, and regulations related to payroll transactions
  • Work closely with the Payroll Analyst and Accounting team to ensure proper allocations to the general ledger
  • Ensure confidential information is handled securely and maintained according to company guidelines

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required
  • Payroll certification (FPC or CPP) preferred
  • At least two (2) years of related payroll experience required
  • Previous hospital experience highly desirable
  • Extensive knowledge of PeopleSoft and Kronos systems payroll and timekeeping
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving/judgment skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Tact and discretion required in regards to security of PeopleSoft and Kronos
  • Excellent organizational skills required to maintain documents, records, logs, etc. and track in CRM system
  • Able to manage self and prioritize workload to maximize efficiencies
  • Team player with courteous and professional demeanor, excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards, and behaviors as outlined in the company's Customer Service Policy
