Animal Care Specialist II

Under moderate supervision, the Animal Care Specialist II performs a variety of routine tasks incident to the care, feeding, and maintenance of various laboratory animal species within the animal care facility. This role requires a high school or G.E.D. graduate with a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in an accredited animal care facility, preferably with AALAS ALAT certification. The successful candidate will possess a valid Michigan vehicle operator's license and satisfactory driving records.
Responsibilities:
• Provide daily care and maintenance of laboratory animals, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring their health and well-being.
• Maintain accurate records of animal care and maintenance activities, including feeding schedules, veterinary care, and animal health issues.
• Assist in the training of new staff members on animal care procedures and protocols.
• Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
Requirements:
• High school or G.E.D. graduate.
• Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in an accredited animal care facility, preferably with AALAS ALAT certification.
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Michigan vehicle operator's license and satisfactory driving records.
Working Conditions:
This role requires working in a fast-paced animal care environment with frequent exposure to animals, cleaning chemicals, and other potential hazards. The successful candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
