Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Supply Chain Manager to join our team at Kopin Corporation. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing sourcing and supplier management strategies to effectively plan and procure raw materials/components and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supplier Management: Manage and select suppliers through a robust supplier selection process and deploy risk mitigation techniques to ensure effective continuity of supplier even with sole source situations.
  • Sourcing Strategies: Develop and execute sourcing strategies that meet cost, quality, and schedule requirements for materials used in production programs/products, production supplies and consumables, and materials used in product development and prototyping programs.
  • Data Analysis: Provide data and analysis for decision support to engineering and program management with respect to materials availability, schedule considerations, cost considerations, lead times, quality, and other parameters and risks.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Production Planning, Engineering, and other functions to evaluate trade-offs for decisions related to production programs and development programs.
  • Vendor Performance: Collaborate and coordinate with the VP, Manufacturing & Quality Director, and the IQC team to establish and ensure compliance with quality metrics from our vendors. Maintain ongoing vendor performance management process.
  • Alternative Vendors: Develop and refine an approved list of alternative vendors – ideally in parallel with our lead customers.
  • Supply Chain Visibility: Keep Production Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management apprised of any new developments and risks associated with vendor deliveries and supply.
  • Performance Metrics: Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost, quality, terms, lead times, and other factors.
  • Procurement Management: Ensure procurement activities are managed and executed to meet agreed build plans with best-in-class practices.
  • Team Management: Manage and develop a team of buyers to meet the company's supply chain and purchasing objectives.
  • MRP Analysis: Analyze the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) data and coordinate internally with Finance and Materials Planning to ensure both production supply and appropriate inventory levels are maintained – provide timely materials 'good-thru' analysis and make buy recommendations to ensure production continuity.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continual improvements on cost, quality, and other value-added factors from suppliers.
  • Supplier Commitments: Proactively get firm supplier commitments, identify, and engage in critical supplier issues, and escalate through the proper channels as needed to ensure timely delivery.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure Kopin meets Government Regulations like Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Registrar, and flow-downs to our suppliers.
  • Quality Audits: Prepare the Supply Chain function for Quality or DCMA audits (i.e. CPSR, AS9100).
  • Shipping and Materials Management: Manage team of shipping and materials management to maintain timely inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Standard Procedures: Formulate and document standard procedures and incorporate best practices to ensure operational efficiencies.
  • Culture and Innovation: Create an innovative, safe, inclusive, and engaging environment with the Purchasing Team.
  • Forecasting and Budgeting: Develop and implement forecasts for inventory levels, increased inventory turns, and develop strategies and action plans to achieve material budgets and improve cash performance in the business.
  • Negotiation and Contracting: Negotiation of Terms & Conditions, and other contractual components with our supplier(s).
Requirements
  • Citizenship: Position requires lawful access to ITAR/EAR-controlled information and the successful candidate in this role will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident.
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in business or a technical field with 7-10 years of supply chain experience in electronics manufacturing environment, including 3-5 years' experience in FAR/DFARS.
  • Vendor Qualification: Experience in developing and implementing vendor qualification standards.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strategic thinker with effective negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to analyze and present data effectively at both the detail level and managerial level for decision support.
  • Numerical Skills: Numerically astute with strong problem-solving skills and expertise to develop and execute objectives for self and others and the ability to effect short-term and long-term business goals.
  • Communication: A proactive communicator with awareness and sensitivity to both upstream and downstream impacts of issues within the supply chain.
  • Leadership: An approachable, hands-on, and 'roll up the sleeves' style.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent Analytical skills with high attention to detail required.
  • Proven Track Record: Proven track record of individual accomplishment, contribution, and team-based success.
  • Computer Skills: Strong computer skills in MS Office, MS Project, or equivalent.
  • Travel: Self-motivated with a high sense of urgency, resourcefulness, and adaptability. Required travel approximately 10% to 15%. This may include international travel.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged Sitting: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Lifting: Able to lift 15 pounds unassisted.
  • Walking and Climbing: Must be able to walk to access all areas of the facility including climbing stairs.
  • Gowning Procedures: Must be able to follow appropriate gowning procedures to enter a clean room (hairnet, safety glasses, clean room apparel/lab coats, latex gloves).
