GENERAL FUNCTION: The Lead Supply Chain Strategist is responsible for formulating and executing sourcing and supplier management strategies to efficiently plan and acquire raw materials, components, and equipment. This role encompasses the vendor management strategy while overseeing both strategic and tactical purchasing, supplier quality, and materials management functions. The aim is to meet business objectives related to quality, cost, material productivity, and supplier performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee supplier selection through a comprehensive evaluation process and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure consistent supplier performance, even in sole source scenarios.
  • Design and implement sourcing strategies that align with cost, quality, and scheduling needs for materials utilized in production and development programs.
  • Provide analytical support and data insights to engineering and program management regarding material availability, scheduling, costs, lead times, quality, and associated risks.
  • Work collaboratively with Production Planning, Engineering, and other departments to assess trade-offs in decision-making for production and development initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the VP, Manufacturing & Quality Director, and the Incoming Quality Control (IQC) team to establish and uphold vendor quality metrics. Maintain an ongoing vendor performance management process.
  • Develop and maintain a vetted list of alternative suppliers, ideally in conjunction with key customers.
  • Keep relevant teams informed of any developments and risks related to vendor deliveries and supply chain issues.
  • Establish performance metrics for evaluating supply chain factors such as product cost, quality, terms, and lead times.
  • Ensure procurement processes are executed to align with agreed production plans and best practices.
  • Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals to achieve the company’s supply chain and purchasing goals.
  • Analyze Material Requirements Planning (MRP) data and collaborate with Finance and Materials Planning to maintain optimal production supply and inventory levels, providing timely analysis and recommendations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, quality enhancement, and value addition from suppliers.
  • Secure firm commitments from suppliers, proactively address critical supplier issues, and escalate as necessary to ensure timely delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with Government Regulations, including Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and enforce these standards with suppliers.
  • Prepare the Supply Chain function for quality audits and assessments.
  • Manage shipping and materials management teams to ensure timely inbound and outbound logistics.
  • Document and standardize procedures while integrating best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Create a dynamic, safe, inclusive, and engaging work environment within the Purchasing Team.
  • Develop and implement inventory forecasts, improve inventory turnover, and create strategies to meet material budgets and enhance cash flow.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to ensure favorable contractual agreements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • This position requires lawful access to ITAR/EAR-controlled information. Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a technical discipline with 7-10 years of supply chain experience in an electronics manufacturing context, including 3-5 years in FAR/DFARS compliance.
  • Experience in establishing and implementing vendor qualification standards.
  • Strategic mindset with strong negotiation and influencing capabilities.
  • Ability to analyze and present data effectively for both detailed and managerial decision-making.
  • Strong numerical aptitude with problem-solving skills to set and achieve objectives.
  • Proactive communicator with an understanding of supply chain impacts.
  • Hands-on approach with a willingness to engage directly in operations.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated history of individual and team success.
  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Project, or similar software.
  • Self-driven with a strong sense of urgency and adaptability.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10% to 15%, including potential international travel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Capability to lift up to 15 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to navigate all areas of the facility, including climbing stairs.
  • Compliance with clean room procedures, including appropriate attire.
