Job Overview:

The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist is responsible for executing essential tasks related to cardiac catheterization procedures at a high technical and professional standard, which may involve some oversight and guidance on technical aspects.

This role encompasses a range of technical activities that necessitate a degree of independent decision-making. The Specialist takes ownership and initiative for specific areas and procedures as needed.

Role Responsibilities:

Provide technical assistance during invasive cardiovascular procedures. Deliver patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.

Assist physicians with radiological imaging during cardiac and vascular procedures, serving as a scrub assistant while ensuring sterile conditions throughout clinical processes.

Operate imaging equipment and monitor procedure images and events from the control room. Educate patients and their families about the procedure and set clear expectations. Instruct patients and families on pre and post-procedure care. Help maintain cleanliness and order within the unit. Ensure adequate stock levels for complex interventions and diagnostic procedures. Complete daily, progress, and discharge documentation in accordance with departmental standards. Accurately document productivity metrics. Engage in quality and patient safety initiatives. Identify potential areas for improvement, including processes that could be optimized to enhance patient satisfaction. Recognize potential safety hazards that may affect patients and/or staff, taking appropriate action as necessary. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Registered ARRT or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist (RCIS) certification required within 18 months of hire, or Registered Respiratory Therapist with CV-specific certification or RCIS/RCES required. Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) and ACLS certifications are mandatory. Surgery Technician License must be obtained within 3 months of hire in the relevant state. An Associate's degree is preferred. Two (2) years of experience in Cardiology/Cath Lab is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly requires the ability to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interaction with patients and care providers necessitates effective verbal communication and the ability to quickly understand spoken information, particularly in emergency situations. Manual dexterity is essential for operating complex and delicate equipment with precision. This includes frequent computer use for documenting patient care and accessing necessary information. Expected to lift and utilize a full range of movement to transfer patients and handle supplies and equipment, which may include heavy items. Will also assist with transporting patients and managing supplies and equipment in busy environments.

May be required to stand in a stationary position for extended periods.
