Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist to join our team at Intermountain Healthcare. As a key member of our cardiovascular team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures, including cardiac catheterization, under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support during invasive cardiovascular procedures, including cardiac catheterization.
  • Assist physicians in radiological imaging of cardiac and vascular procedures, maintaining sterile conditions during clinical procedures.
  • Operate imaging equipment and work in the control room, monitoring and documenting procedure images and events.
  • Educate patients and families regarding the procedure and about the expectations of the procedure.
  • Teach patients and families about pre and post-procedure physical conditions.
  • Assist in maintaining order and cleanliness of the unit, including maintaining appropriate stock levels for complex interventions and diagnostic procedures.
  • Complete daily, progress, and discharge documentation according to departmental standards.
  • Accurately document productivity information.
  • Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives, identifying potential areas for improvement and taking appropriate actions.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Registered ARRT or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist (RCIS) or Registered Respiratory Therapist with CV-specific certification or RCIS or RCES required.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) and ACLS required.
  • Surgery Technician License must be obtained within 3 months from hire date in the State of Colorado.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years of experience in Cardiology/Cath Lab preferred.
Physical Requirements

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.

This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.

Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.

Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.

This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.

Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
