Job Title: Parking Operations Manager

Location: Kent Campus - Kent, OH

Compensation: $18.75 per hour

Overview:

The Parking Operations Manager is responsible for the strategic planning and coordination of daily staffing for various events and enforcement activities. This role involves supervising Parking Facility Attendants and a significant number of student workers engaged in parking enforcement, motorist assistance, special events, and the collection of parking fees. The position reports directly to the Manager of Parking Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage Parking Facility Attendants and student employees involved in parking enforcement and motorist assistance.
  • Exercise independent judgment in planning and directing work activities, including assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
  • Conduct interviews for job applicants and evaluate the performance of classified employees.
  • Recommend personnel actions such as hiring, promotions, and disciplinary measures for team members.
  • Communicate and enforce policies and procedures while addressing employee concerns and resolving issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee work hours, overtime, and leave requests.
  • Ensure staff receive appropriate training and identify areas for development.
  • Enforce university parking regulations and assist motorists in need.
  • Provide information and guidance to faculty, staff, students, and visitors regarding parking policies.
  • Coordinate parking and traffic management for special events, ensuring adequate staffing and resources.
  • Prepare and review reports related to incidents and follow-ups on towed vehicles.
  • Utilize specialized parking software for data entry and retrieval.
  • Maintain inventory and manage departmental key logs.
  • Represent Parking Services in interdepartmental meetings concerning campus parking issues.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of two years of experience in parking enforcement or supervisory roles.

Licenses/Certifications:

A valid Ohio driver's license with a safe driving record is required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of automobile safety practices and procedures.
  • Proficient in interpersonal communication and public speaking.
  • Ability to supervise, evaluate, and train employees effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making capabilities.
  • Competence in basic mathematics and record-keeping.

Working Conditions:

This position may require exposure to varying weather conditions and physical demands, including extended periods of walking and standing. The schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
