Field Operations Manager

Position Summary

The Field Operations Manager will work closely with the Facility Manager to supervise the field team, ensuring operations are conducted safely, effectively, and efficiently. This role will also ensure that training, certifications, vehicle inspections, and maintenance align with company standards. The ideal candidate will be proactive, capable of managing various projects independently and collaboratively, and willing to extend working hours when necessary to address emergencies or complete ongoing tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize Health and Safety as the foremost objective by adhering to policies and procedures, acting safely at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including OSHA standards, for the workforce.
  • Oversee coordination, delegation, supervision, and quality assurance of onsite operations, including managing the performance and productivity of field staff.
  • Manage daily activities of personnel assigned to projects (e.g., Foremen, Field Technicians, Drivers) including tracking hours worked, overtime, and providing coaching and discipline as necessary.
  • Identify training needs and address technical and behavioral gaps, determining competencies and training required for the development of field personnel.
  • Collaborate with the Facility Manager to identify training opportunities for field personnel to ensure adequate development.
  • Conduct field inspections as required.
  • Monitor daily production for field personnel to meet scheduling demands consistently.
  • Assess field personnel performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Build effective relationships with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage with subcontractors and field personnel regarding project completion and resolve conflicts as needed.
  • Participate in fieldwork alongside personnel when necessary.
  • Provide accurate and timely progress reports on supervised projects to ensure proper staffing and resource management.
  • Report any deficiencies in equipment and operational matters.
  • Adapt swiftly to changing circumstances.
  • Ensure all operators using company equipment are adequately trained and certified according to approved operational and safety protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in work areas.
  • Understand and participate in the company's emergency response plan, including emergency drills and being part of the emergency response team.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for tasks and ensure compliance among coworkers and drivers.
  • Be prepared to extend working hours as necessary to manage emergencies or complete ongoing work.

Required Skills

  • Mechanical knowledge of field equipment or the capacity to learn.
  • Adept at understanding and analyzing customer needs to identify job requirements.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and application of safety principles.
  • Mathematical skills at a 12th-grade level or higher are preferred.
  • Strong customer focus and service skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Leadership, professionalism, and a proven track record in accountability are essential for success in this role.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience is necessary, with field experience in this industry being advantageous.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Previous project management experience is preferred.
  • Must pass a HAZMAT physical, including a pulmonary function test that allows for the use of a full-face respirator.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
