Job Overview:

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) is responsible for executing reception and administrative tasks within outpatient clinic environments. This role involves engaging with patients, families, healthcare providers, and clinical teams to ensure a superior experience for patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations of the clinic, including handling a significant volume of incoming calls and making outbound calls.
  • Maintain accurate recordkeeping and file management, including sorting and distributing incoming correspondence.
  • Schedule patient appointments following established protocols and inform patients about their appointment details.
  • Verify patient demographics, insurance details, and other necessary information during the check-in process.
  • Collect co-payments and fees, and assist patients in understanding financial assistance options.
  • Process billing information and ensure accurate posting of payments.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, addressing patient needs promptly and courteously.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment for patients and staff.
  • Communicate any changes or delays in appointment schedules to patients.
  • Adhere to all relevant policies and procedures to maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Travel to various clinic locations as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 2-3 years of experience in medical billing or within a physician's office is preferred.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems is necessary.
  • Prior customer service experience is essential.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Familiarity with basic medical terminology.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Capacity to manage stressful situations while maintaining professionalism.

Work Environment:

This position requires a commitment to a patient-centered approach, focusing on quality and operational excellence. The work schedule will be determined based on departmental needs, with the possibility of additional hours.
