About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Operations Manager to join our team at Hormel Foods Corporation. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations of our facilities, ensuring that all equipment and systems are running efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance Management: Make departmental decisions regarding maintenance, including developing and implementing maintenance plans and schedules.
  • Equipment Expertise: Develop an understanding of the equipment and manufacturing processes, including troubleshooting and repairing complex systems.
  • Team Leadership: Train and supervise mechanics, electricians, plumbers, and other skilled trades, providing guidance and support to ensure the success of the team.
  • Technical Advice: Offer sound technical and engineering advice for facilities performance improvement, including the selection and implementation of new technologies and systems.
  • CMMS Utilization: Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track and manage maintenance activities, including work orders and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • CAD Design: Use CAD software to gather information and design custom alterations to equipment, ensuring that all modifications are safe and effective.
  • Vendor Selection: Select vendors for equipment purchases, ensuring that all purchases are made in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot mechanical processes, identifying and resolving issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Equipment Installation: Install and start-up new equipment and processes, ensuring that all systems are running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Cost Reduction: Develop creative ideas to cut costs, including the implementation of energy-efficient systems and processes.
  • Equipment Design: Supervise equipment design changes, ensuring that all modifications are safe and effective.
  • Energy Management: Monitor and control energy use, identifying opportunities to reduce energy consumption and costs.
  • Alteration Requests: Research alteration requests and provide justification, ensuring that all requests are approved and implemented in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Contract Work: Negotiate and oversee contract work, ensuring that all contracts are executed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintenance Work Orders: Authorize, delegate, and follow-up with maintenance work-orders, schedules preventive maintenance for equipment, and ensures safety and security of physical plant and facilities.
  • Administrative Work: Verify and complete administrative work, including the completion of reports and other documentation.
  • Departmental Communication: Communicate department projects with plant management, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Candidate must have 3 or more years of maintenance supervisory experience.
  • Skills: Innovative, good technical and mechanical knowledge, excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Citizenship: Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.
  • Employment Visa: Applicants must not now, or any time in the future, require sponsorship for an employment visa.
