Facilities Maintenance Engineer

Location: Suffolk, VA

Shift: Monday to Friday, 2:30 PM - Midnight. Weekend coverage as necessary.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Facilities Maintenance Engineer to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the operational efficiency of our manufacturing processes and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Make strategic decisions regarding maintenance management.
  • Gain comprehensive knowledge of equipment and production methodologies.
  • Oversee and mentor skilled trades personnel including mechanics, electricians, and plumbers.
  • Provide expert technical and engineering guidance to enhance facility performance.
  • Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for effective maintenance tracking.
  • Employ CAD software to design and implement custom modifications to equipment.
  • Select and manage vendors for equipment procurement.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues.
  • Facilitate the installation and commissioning of new equipment and processes.
  • Innovate cost-reduction strategies.
  • Supervise modifications to equipment design.
  • Monitor and manage energy consumption.
  • Research and justify requests for alterations.
  • Negotiate and oversee contracted maintenance work.
  • Authorize and track maintenance work orders, ensuring preventive maintenance schedules are adhered to.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the facility.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks related to maintenance operations.
  • Communicate ongoing projects and initiatives with plant management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Maintenance Engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Possess strong technical and mechanical acumen, along with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to transition to different shifts every 12-18 months.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or possess authorization to work in the United States.
