Job Summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shelter Operations Director to oversee the daily operations of the Harbor House Family Emergency Shelter. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as a deep understanding of social services and program management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Shelter Administration:
    • Supervise and manage a team of staff to ensure the smooth operation of the shelter
    • Oversee the maintenance of compliance manuals and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army's policies and procedures
    • Prepare and submit reports to the Executive Director and Business Administrator
    • Manage the shelter's budget and resources
  • Shelter Management:
    • Perform regular site visits to ensure the shelter is operating safely and efficiently
    • Work with the Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the shelter
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the shelter is running effectively
    • Oversee the therapeutic, clinical, and program needs of shelter participants
  • Shelter Development:
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve the shelter's services and programs
    • Collaborate with the Executive Director, Business Administrator, and Assistant Corps Officer to develop and implement new programs and services
    • Manage the re-credentialing and contract renewal process with funding sources
    • Build relationships with other agencies and organizations to secure funding and resources
    Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field
    • CA driver's license
    • Master's degree in Social Work or related field (preferred)
    • 2+ years of experience in shelter or residential treatment center management
    • Experience working with federal, state, and local contracts
    • Strong leadership and management skills
    • Ability to work with diverse populations
    • Knowledge of Microsoft programs
