Position Summary:

We are in search of a proficient and empathetic Respiratory Therapist to enhance our healthcare team. As an essential contributor to patient care, the Respiratory Therapist will coordinate and provide high-quality, patient-focused respiratory services. Responsibilities include conducting diagnostic evaluations, administering therapeutic interventions, and monitoring patients who require both invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, all while adhering to departmental protocols and state regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and document comprehensive patient assessments, including evaluating breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Perform diagnostic tests to determine the necessity for and effectiveness of respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care treatments, including oxygen therapy, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist in the placement of artificial airways and manage mechanical ventilation, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Monitor patient reactions to therapies and take appropriate action in response to any adverse effects.
  • Support the safe transportation of patients reliant on ventilatory support.
  • Act promptly in emergency situations to maintain airway integrity and ensure adequate ventilation during resuscitation efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (experience in acute care, LTAC, or similar environments is acceptable).
  • Education: Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Licensure: Must hold a valid state license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • Certifications:
  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification required within 30 days of employment.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required within 30 days of employment.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification required within 30 days of employment.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required within 60 days of employment.
