Position Overview

AECOM is seeking a Lead Transportation Systems Engineer (Hybrid).

This role will spearhead and support Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) design initiatives, Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSMO), and the development of operational concepts and ITS architectures. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting plan reviews, ITS planning, and mentoring junior engineers on ITS and electrical projects.

  • Act as a task leader for the formulation and execution of ITS plans and programs.
  • Define ITS program goals and requirements, organize projects, and establish standards for various ITS-related activities.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
  • Develop comprehensive Scope of Services for ITS planning, programming, design, and emerging technology projects.
  • Oversee project team members and subconsultants, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Create and maintain project timelines.
  • Execute work in accordance with the established budget and schedule with minimal oversight.
  • Independently resolve project-related issues; collaborate with project managers to implement design initiatives.
  • Serve as a technical authority for ITS and electrical projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree with 8 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with ITS systems and design principles, standards, and operational policies.
  • Knowledge of the latest ITS technologies and vendors.
  • Ability to prepare technical documentation and reports for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, Excel, Word, and Google Earth.
  • Experience with PS&E related to fiber and wireless networks, CCTV, and DMS.
  • Project experience with transportation agencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
