Position Overview:

Colliers Engineering & Design is in search of a Senior Engineer who will leverage their leadership and engineering expertise to execute design tasks and oversee support personnel. The design responsibilities will encompass grading and drainage designs pertinent to development projects in New York. Collaborate with staff engineers using AutoCAD to ensure the successful completion of projects while adhering to established budgets, timelines, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct reviews of municipal zoning and land development regulations to identify land development constraints for properties.
- Perform site investigations and due diligence, which includes ordinance reviews, utility service research, compliance with external agency regulations, and site visits to formulate comprehensive development guidelines.
- Prepare concept drawings based on client development goals and findings from due diligence, coordinating with AutoCAD draftsmen.
- Assume a leadership role in the review and design of stormwater management and conveyance systems, utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydrology design software.
- Execute pipe sizing calculations for stormwater systems, including drainage area mapping and evaluations of surface runoff coefficients, invert, slope, velocity, and hydraulic grade lines using the Rational Method and Manning's Equation.
- Maintain knowledge of stormwater management design regulations, including those from County, SCD, and governing municipalities in New York.
- Conduct grading design to achieve value engineering through earthwork analysis and ensure site safety with appropriate design slopes.
- Design subdivision and site plans, including layout considerations.
- Develop utility systems designs encompassing stormwater conveyance, sanitary sewer services, pump station design, and other utilities.
- Implement soil erosion and sediment control designs, including stability calculations, best management practices, swale design, spillway design, and construction sequencing.
- Prepare construction cost estimates based on site plan drawings for bonding and client requirements.
- Work independently and lead other engineers in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- 8-12 years of experience in residential and/or commercial civil land development.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Familiarity with local municipal, county, and state land use, planning, and zoning regulations (New York).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient technical skills in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading, and related site development designs.
- Demonstrated skills in Civil 3D, capable of designing site layouts from concept to completion.
- Self-motivated individual who can work independently as well as collaboratively with team members.
