Position Summary

The SUD Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) Supervisor oversees the performance and management of the BHT staff. Responsibilities include scheduling staff to meet operational needs, training personnel to ensure competency in their roles, and providing ongoing education and performance evaluations. The Supervisor also engages in advanced indirect and selected direct patient care tasks to support clinical operations effectively.

  • Provide leadership to the BHT team and delegate tasks appropriately.
  • Assist in orienting newly assigned BHT staff as needed.
  • Conduct rounds and document observations as per policy.
  • Review and audit BHT rounds for compliance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Support quality assurance initiatives as directed.
  • Respond to BHT inquiries on an on-call basis when necessary.
  • Manage staff scheduling and coverage during absences.
  • Assign responsibilities to Behavioral Technicians on a shift-by-shift basis.
  • Ensure timely completion of shift reports and other required documentation.
  • Monitor staff adherence to program policies and conduct chart audits.
  • Facilitate patient compliance with daily schedules and room assignments.
  • Communicate any schedule or room changes to relevant departments.
  • Lead morning community meetings for patients as assigned.
  • Perform basic housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Facilitate daily group sessions as directed by leadership.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions, contributing to discussions.
  • Complete all required online training and maintain updated HR files.
  • Oversee the self-administration of patient medications as applicable.
  • Record vital signs as instructed.
  • Coordinate sign-up sheets for optional activities.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Support patients during transportation, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a behavioral health setting preferred.
  • Leadership experience is advantageous.
  • Valid and unrestricted state driver's license if applicable.
  • At least 1 year of sobriety if in recovery.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic documentation.
  • First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire, with annual recertification.
  • De-escalation/restraint technique certification within 90 days of hire, with yearly recertification.
  • Medication training within 30 days of hire if applicable.
  • Completion or enrollment in an approved counselor certification program is preferred.
