Position Overview:

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) plays a crucial role in acquiring, assessing, coordinating, and disseminating the necessary information and approvals to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within financial constraints, and to the specified quality standards. The APM is tasked with safeguarding and advancing the interests of both the organization and the client in all aspects while exhibiting the qualities of an emerging leader. Typically, team members serve as APMs for a duration of two to six years, with varying paths for growth and advancement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Uphold HITT's safety standards rigorously.
  • Ensure proper documentation is maintained and filed appropriately.
  • Assist in the formulation and oversight of project budgets for all assigned initiatives.
  • Develop pre-construction Request for Proposal (RFP) packages.
  • Aid in organizing project meetings, establishing milestones, and preparing monthly reports for owners.
  • Define job processes, including Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and payment applications, while also approving payment requests and negotiating changes with subcontractors.
  • Update project schedules; ensure quality control throughout the project and manage overall logistics.
  • Support the management of the project closeout process.
  • Collaborate closely with the project superintendent and site operations team throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma is required; a four-year degree in construction, engineering, or business from an accredited institution is strongly preferred.
  • Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2-5 years of experience in commercial construction, particularly with a commercial general contractor.
  • Prior experience on commercial job sites is highly desirable.
  • A strong passion for the construction industry and a keen ability to identify and pursue quality.
  • Proficiency in sector-specific software systems, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), ProCore, Adobe, BlueBeam, and JD Edwards.
  • Must exhibit strong capabilities to:
    • Communicate effectively and professionally, with a focus on appropriate business writing and verbal skills.
    • Maintain a positive attitude and enthusiasm for the construction industry.
    • Analyze data, interpret it meaningfully, and convey that information through clear communication strategies; understand how various components and processes impact the broader business model.
    • Organize and prioritize tasks efficiently.
    • Consistently demonstrate integrity aligned with The HITT Way and the core values of HITT.
    • Pursue continuous improvement in knowledge and skills, with a focus on self-development.
    • Adapt to and navigate the evolving landscape of technology, design, methods, and processes.
