Position: Assistant Project Manager - Commercial ConstructionJob Overview:

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) plays a crucial role in acquiring, assessing, coordinating, and disseminating the information and approvals essential for the timely and budget-compliant execution of projects while maintaining the specified quality standards. The APM is tasked with safeguarding and advancing the interests of both the organization and the client in all aspects, while also embodying the traits of an emerging leader. The typical tenure for team members in this role ranges from two to six years.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Uphold HITT's stringent safety standards.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is accurately maintained.
  • Assist in the formulation and oversight of project budgets for assigned tasks.
  • Develop comprehensive pre-construction RFP packages.
  • Support the organization of project meetings, establish milestones, and prepare monthly reports for owners.
  • Define job processes including RFIs, submittals, and payment applications, along with the approval of payment requests and negotiation of subcontractor change orders.
  • Update and manage project schedules; ensure quality control and oversee overall project logistics.
  • Aid in the management of the project closeout process.
  • Collaborate closely with the project superintendent and site operations team throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma is required; a four-year degree in construction, engineering, or business from an accredited institution is highly preferred.
  • Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2-5 years of experience in commercial construction, particularly with a commercial general contractor.
  • Prior experience on commercial job sites is strongly preferred.
  • A genuine passion for the construction industry and a keen eye for quality.
  • Proficiency in sector-specific software systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), ProCore, Adobe, BlueBeam, and JD Edwards.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on professionalism and clarity.
  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm for the construction field.
  • Ability to gather and interpret data, transforming it into actionable insights and communicating effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Consistent demonstration of integrity aligned with HITT's core values.
  • Commitment to continuous self-improvement and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and build strong relationships with colleagues, clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
