Overview: The Facilities Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the activities of personnel involved in supporting a chemical production facility. This role encompasses central maintenance, utility management (including steam, electricity, water, air, nitrogen, and more), incoming water treatment, wastewater pretreatment, and engineering inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement programs, procedures, and practices that promote a safe and environmentally responsible workplace, ensuring quality outcomes at cost-effective levels.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, health, and environmental standards.
  • Prepare and manage budgets while monitoring expenditures effectively.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise annual maintenance and boiler shutdown operations.
  • Provide technical assistance for maintenance activities within central maintenance.
  • Strategically plan and execute capital expenditure projects.
  • Offer advisory support to the engineering team within the plant.
  • Ensure compliance with plant engineering standards and regulations.
  • Support and coordinate maintenance staff during off-hours.
  • Drive necessary cultural changes within the organization.
  • Resolve personnel conflicts and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

Cost Management: Develop systems and utilize relevant tools to enhance understanding of maintenance costs and utility metrics in relation to overall reliability objectives.

Utilities Oversight: Supervise the daily operations of the site's utility systems.

Equipment Inspection: Conduct inspections and troubleshoot equipment as necessary, including steam boiler internals.

Inventory Management: Oversee engineering inventory functions to adequately support plant requirements, including maintenance materials, contracting needs, process materials, raw material procurement, and physical inventory management.

Additional Duties: Perform other projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge in various areas including industrial maintenance, electrical systems, boiler operations, welding, pneumatics, plumbing, and hydraulics.
  • Experience in budget administration and financial reporting is preferred.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, operating instructions, safety protocols, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Proficient in fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Capable of writing routine reports, correspondence, and policies/procedures, as well as analyzing and interpreting business publications, technical manuals, and regulations.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to engage with various internal and external stakeholders, including presenting to groups.
  • Basic mathematical skills for performing calculations related to rates, ratios, and percentages; ability to interpret graphical data.
