Overview:
The Clinical Nutrition Operations Supervisor plays a pivotal role in the management of nutrition services, utilizing complex and diverse information to make informed decisions regarding all facets of nutrition operations.
This position is integral to the leadership team within the Nutrition and Food Services (NFS) department. The Supervisor is dedicated to enhancing patient satisfaction and optimizing the experience of veterans.
Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this role encompass, but are not limited to:
- Providing specialized leadership in clinical nutrition, serving as a professional and technical consultant to team members and other healthcare professionals.
- Overseeing human resources functions, including staffing, employee relations, and labor relations within the Clinical Nutrition section.
- Exercising comprehensive supervisory and personnel management authority, with full accountability for planning, directing, and evaluating the work of subordinate staff.
- Creating and implementing a training program for the clinical section grounded in evidence-based nutrition practices.
- Developing and steering clinical nutrition operations to align with strategic objectives.
- Setting strategic goals and ensuring alignment with the overarching strategic plan of the NFS department and national initiatives.
- Leading quality improvement initiatives within the Clinical Nutrition section, utilizing performance data to drive enhancements.
- Identifying and prioritizing challenges, establishing both short-term and long-term objectives, and crafting action plans to assess progress and improve outcomes.
- Formulating and revising policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Engaging with facility managers to influence decision-making and secure support for successful clinical nutrition operations.
- Collaborating closely with the NFS management team to ensure comprehensive coverage of departmental activities.
- Performing additional related duties as assigned that are appropriate for this level of responsibility.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position, typically operating Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Telework may be available on an ad-hoc basis.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and proficient in both written and spoken English. Registration as a Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required. Previous management experience and advanced certifications are preferred.
Physical Requirements:
This role necessitates visual acuity, effective communication skills, and the ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, and transferring patients.
