Position Overview:

The Lead Software Engineer for Content Management Systems will oversee the development and management of XML content and publication workflows. This role involves utilizing various development frameworks and tools to architect and implement content services and databases that facilitate the delivery of our extensive portfolio of healthcare publications and digital assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and implement solutions using the MarkLogic integration platform.
  2. Manage editorial and digital publishing workflows, ensuring efficient document search and discovery services.
  3. Oversee configuration and system administration of content repository environments.
  4. Enhance team collaboration through Agile development practices.
  5. Address system administration tasks and respond to production emergencies as needed.
  6. Collaborate with stakeholders to define user acceptance criteria and gather requirements.
  7. Mentor junior developers and promote cross-training within the team.
  8. Adhere to best practices in the Software Development Lifecycle, including code reviews and deployment strategies.
  9. Assist in project estimation, scheduling, and communication of project status.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 8 years in electronic document publishing, software development, or related fields.
  • Extensive knowledge of digital asset management, repository systems, and electronic document life-cycles.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Technical Skills:

  • In-depth experience with MarkLogic, Spring Framework, Docker, RESTful web services, and version control systems like Git.
  • Proficiency in Java and JavaScript/NodeJS.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Apache NiFi and GraphQL is advantageous.
  • Expertise in XML technologies and metadata standards is a plus.
