Job Overview

Objective: The Value-Added Services Supervisor is responsible for maintaining an organized warehouse environment with proper stacking and cleanliness. This role involves ensuring that all shipments are accurately prepared, verified, and loaded efficiently. The supervisor will oversee material handling operations for shipping and receiving activities, ensuring that all safety protocols are adhered to by Material Handlers operating forklifts and pallet jacks. This position reports directly to the shift supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in leadership roles with a focus on meticulous attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with the retail supervisor to prioritize labor and picking tasks, optimizing manpower to meet daily shipping goals.
  • Directly train and mentor team members on customer specifications to achieve the highest standards of operational quality and productivity.
  • Document all audits and photographs, ensuring compliance with customer requirements for all orders.
  • Communicate effectively with management regarding any identified issues or concerns.
  • Work alongside the retail team to enhance the company's operational efficiency and profitability by identifying improvement opportunities within the labeling and auditing processes.
  • Monitor errors and issues, implementing preventive measures to minimize customer chargebacks.
  • Relay audit findings to the operations team and facilitate retraining of staff when quality issues arise.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to safety, cleanliness, productivity, and quality, with proven results.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer.
  • Capable of operating standard office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, printers, and computers.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Must be adaptable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is preferred.
  • Exhibit high energy, versatility, and a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities.

Additional Duties:

  • Exhibit a sense of urgency and accountability, capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Basic understanding of computers and handheld RF devices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take on leadership roles.
  • Must be proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • Attention to detail and quality is essential.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to resolve problems effectively.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed and provide coverage for other shifts.
  • Basic computer skills are advantageous.
  • Extensive experience operating sit-down forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Experience in assembling pallets with inventory and breaking down stock for independent orders.
  • Familiarity with cross-docking freight processes.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience in a warehouse setting.
  • Consistent work history and attendance record.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Certifications in warehousing are a plus.

Language Proficiency:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Capable of writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Capable of computing rates, ratios, and percentages, and interpreting bar graphs.

Reasoning Skills:

  • Adept at solving practical problems and addressing various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Capable of identifying the root cause of issues and determining corrective actions.

Computer Skills:

  • To succeed in this role, an individual must possess knowledge of business operating systems, internet software, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift (8 hours).
  • Must be able to work beyond a continuous 8-hour shift when necessary.
  • Must be in good physical health as verified by a licensed physician, with no evidence of controlled substance use.
