Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Services Program Specialist to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. This role will serve as a subject matter expert for medical services initiatives, including the STAR Health managed care organization. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, prioritize, and perform technical, training, research, planning, policy, program assessment, and administrative activities for assigned programs, including overseeing the delivery of services and providing high-level technical assistance.
• Coordinate the collection, organization, analysis, and preparation of materials in response to requests for program information and reports.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve problems, identify training needs, and discuss program effectiveness.
• Develop, implement, and monitor major agency initiatives, such as the managed care/medical initiative: STAR Health.
• Represent the agency on workgroups and planning committees related to medical services to youth in foster care.
• Perform related work as assigned.

Requirements:
• Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to program areas and of principles and practices of public administration and management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information at trainings, conferences, and legislative hearings.
• Ability to apply a critical and analytical approach to problem solving and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Strong skills at establishing and maintaining working relationships both internally and externally.
