Position Overview
The Senior Vice President for Undergraduate Programs and Education Leadership plays a pivotal role in shaping the undergraduate academic landscape. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, this position encompasses a range of essential responsibilities, including:
  • Oversight of the undergraduate academic experience at the University of South Carolina, focusing on initiatives such as the Carolina Core, the university's general education framework.
  • Management of the University Advising Center and the four-year advising strategy.
  • Leadership of the Center for Integrated and Experiential Learning (CIEL), which includes the Graduation with Leadership Distinction program.
  • Development and support of Living-learning Communities in collaboration with faculty leaders.
  • Coordination of the Graduation and Retention Network (GARNET).
  • Ensuring compliance with SACSCOC and CHE accreditation standards.

Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A distinguished record as a professor and scholar, demonstrating excellence in academia suitable for full professorship.
  • A strong commitment to fostering academic excellence and innovation in undergraduate education, with the ability to motivate and lead faculty, staff, and students in a large public research institution.
  • Experience in integrated learning programs that enhance student engagement through service learning, internships, and other experiential opportunities.
  • A dedication to advancing academic advising initiatives.
  • A proven track record of collaboration with student affairs and academic support services.
  • An interest in enriching the undergraduate curriculum.
  • Experience in curriculum development and accreditation processes.
  • A commitment to promoting access and opportunities for all students.
  • A minimum of three years of administrative experience leading transformative initiatives at the departmental, college, or university level.
