Position Overview
The Senior Vice President for Undergraduate Programs and Academic Leadership plays a pivotal role in enhancing the undergraduate educational journey at the University of South Carolina. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, this position encompasses a range of essential responsibilities, including:
  • Oversight of the undergraduate academic framework, including the Carolina Core, the university's general education curriculum.
  • Management of the University Advising Center and the four-year advising initiative.
  • Leadership of the Center for Integrated and Experiential Learning (CIEL), which includes the Graduation with Leadership Distinction program.
  • Development and support of Living-learning Communities with faculty engagement.
  • Coordination of the Graduation and Retention Network (GARNET).
  • Ensuring compliance with SACSCOC and CHE accreditation standards.

Required Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must:
  • Hold a professorship with a distinguished record of scholarly achievement suitable for full professor status.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to academic excellence and innovation in undergraduate education, with the ability to motivate and lead faculty, staff, and students in a large public research institution.
  • Demonstrate a successful history of developing integrated learning programs that enhance student engagement through service learning, internships, and other experiential opportunities.
  • Show a commitment to academic advising initiatives and collaboration with student affairs and academic support services.
  • Possess a keen interest in advancing the undergraduate curriculum and a proven track record in curriculum development and accreditation processes.
  • Exhibit a strong dedication to promoting access and opportunities for all students.
  • Have a minimum of three years of administrative experience with a focus on driving positive change at the departmental, college, or university level.
