Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Biological Science Assistant to join our team at the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. This is a seasonal, full-time position that will assist in monitoring fish populations in the Klamath River Basin.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct stream surveys to estimate fish populations and habitat quality.
  • Collect and analyze data on fish behavior, habitat, and population dynamics.
  • Assist in the installation and operation of stream weirs and other monitoring equipment.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to achieve conservation goals.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Fisheries or Wildlife Science or related field.
  • Experience with fish sampling and monitoring techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
  • Position requires frequent travel to study sites in all weather conditions.
  • May be required to work weekends and long hours.
  • Requires a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
