Job Summary:

The Financial Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting Alumni Relations and Development's financial operations. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance, troubleshooting logistical issues, monitoring budget activity, and managing various projects and initiatives for the Finance and Administration team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Transaction Review: Review and oversee all types of financial transactions, including complex transactions, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Budget Management: Prepare materials for annual budget planning, provide updated budget estimates, and guide units of responsibility through university budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Create daily, monthly, and annual analysis and reports regarding area/unit, grants, and awards, accounts, funds, payroll, expense, and revenue allocation.
  • Transaction Processing: Enter individual and/or summary of transactions into journals and/or general ledger or other NU enterprise system, review, and ensure approval based on alternatives regarding practice and policy.
  • Customer Service: Provide training and customer service for coworkers using financial systems, and maintain a high level of customer service for Alumni Relations and Development staff.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or related field.
  • 1 year of financial, budgeting, and/or preparing account reconciliations or financial statements experience.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and NUFinancials.
