Position Overview:
The Senior Project Engineering Manager plays a pivotal role in orchestrating product development initiatives, encompassing new product launches, cost optimization, technology integration, and ongoing product support throughout its lifecycle. This role demands a robust understanding of technical and cross-functional product development processes, exemplary leadership capabilities, and extensive project management experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead project management efforts for new product development, including schedule creation, product development planning, and coordination of cross-functional team activities.
  • Translate product requirements into project scopes, ensuring alignment with design and realization criteria.
  • Oversee project execution in collaboration with engineering and product management teams for new product initiatives.
  • Manage multiple large-scale projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budget constraints, scope, and quality standards.
  • Achieve targeted product costs and lifecycle expenses for customers.
  • Enhance the product development process by leveraging Generac Development Process (GDP) milestones and design reviews as essential components of progression.
  • Identify and implement risk mitigation strategies, leading contingency assessments as necessary.
  • Foster interdepartmental collaboration to uncover and develop new product concepts, technologies, and best practices.
  • Evaluate and manage decisions regarding sourcing, logistics, and bidding processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Generac NPI phase/gate process.
  • Document and share lessons learned from projects to inform future endeavors.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in engineering, project engineering, or brand/product management within the equipment or machinery sectors.
  • At least 5 years of project management experience in the development of industrial or commercial equipment.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing resources, timelines, and quality outcomes.
  • Expertise in transforming product requirements into actionable design and realization plans that align with business objectives.
  • Strong influence and leadership skills, capable of guiding teams across various functions.
  • Deep understanding of engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, service, and marketing as they relate to product development.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively and manipulate objects or controls. The role involves standing and walking, with occasional requirements to stoop, bend, or reach. The employee may need to lift up to 25 pounds. This position entails frequent computer-based work, necessitating periods of sitting and close vision. Occasional travel may be required.
