Position Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable professional to provide analytical support focused on forest carbon offset economics and analytics. This role involves collaboration with team members to conduct timber and carbon investment analysis, harvest scheduling, and both tactical and long-term resource modeling. The analyst will evaluate third-party investment models related to carbon sequestration and offer direct support to the Impact Investment and forest management teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct modeling for forest carbon offsets and sequestration.
- Lead and support underwriting for carbon-focused timberland acquisitions, employing strategies such as improved forest management, afforestation, reforestation, and revegetation across various registries.
- Prepare educational and investment materials for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Engage in forest carbon planning and investment modeling to support current asset management.
- Generate periodic reports detailing timberland property carbon stocks and greenhouse gas profiles.
- Assist in all phases of property acquisition, including investment modeling and due diligence.
- Review third-party property appraisals and annual property management plans.
- Support accounting and portfolio management teams with relevant information and analysis.
- Contribute to special projects within Global Forest Operations as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Forestry or a related field; a graduate degree in a forest or carbon-related discipline is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of experience in carbon modeling, forest management planning, or timberland investment planning.
- Strong understanding of forest carbon analytics and market trends.
- Proficient in growth and yield models, harvest scheduling, and discounted cash flow analysis.
- Familiarity with registry protocols for carbon credits.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to produce professional reports.
