Position Overview:

The Senior Commercial Banking Officer plays a pivotal role in collaborating with the sales team to cultivate, enhance, and maintain robust Commercial Banking relationships with businesses typically generating gross sales under $25 million. This position is accountable for the overall performance and expansion of the designated sales territory, serving as the primary relationship steward for clients within the assigned portfolio. Key responsibilities include engaging in the credit process, which encompasses Credit Underwriting, Portfolio Management, Risk Assessment, and Credit Grading.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve or surpass individual sales and retention targets while adhering to corporate, legal, and regulatory standards.
  • Proactively nurture existing client relationships and pursue new business opportunities through referrals and outreach efforts to align with the bank's strategic objectives.
  • Craft proposals and devise sales strategies at an advanced level.
  • Develop and sustain a network of referral sources.
  • Document the relationship management process meticulously.
  • Collaborate with clients to analyze challenges and recommend effective solutions.
  • Act as an advocate for clients in securing appropriate credit and promoting additional products and services.
  • Structure and finalize both secured and unsecured business financing.
  • Assess business, management, industry, financial, and structural risks, documenting findings in credit approval documentation.
  • Lead complex sales initiatives, including the creation of tailored proposals.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of all banking products and services.
  • Engage in special projects as required.
  • Participate actively in community organizations and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of experience in Commercial Banking.
  • Strong understanding and experience in credit and lending.
  • Proven ability to meet sales objectives and independently drive banking sales and credit support while maximizing cross-sell opportunities.
  • Familiarity with commercial banking products and services, including credit analysis, underwriting, and treasury management.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and advanced problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills, results-driven, and able to perform well under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build long-term relationships and influence stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Formal credit training is preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field.
