JOB TITLE: SENIOR FINANCIAL OFFICER

The Salvation Army, a globally recognized non-profit organization, is seeking a Senior Financial Officer for its financial operations.

Position Type & Pay Range: Regular Full-Time, 37.5 hours weekly, $25.76-$28.97 hourly.

About this role:

As a Senior Financial Officer, you will oversee and engage in the execution of computerized double-entry bookkeeping tasks that necessitate a solid understanding of fund accounting principles to accurately record and uphold precise financial records and data. Your role will involve applying fundamental accounting knowledge to various tasks, including posting transactions, verifying entries, issuing payments, balancing accounts, and generating financial reports for designated accounts. You will ensure that financial records are maintained accurately, completely, and punctually while safeguarding the integrity and accountability of the organization's financial accounts.

In this capacity, you will assist fellow accounting staff by addressing inquiries and clarifying established policies and procedures. You will also manage HR information and maintain the filing system for human resources documents, track attendance, process leave requests, and conduct audits within the timekeeping system. Your responsibilities will include preparing advanced reports and spreadsheets, as well as compiling statistical data.

As a lead worker, you will guide and participate in computerized bookkeeping tasks, instructing and training team members as necessary.

You will manage various ledgers, input income, expenses, and balance sheet data into financial systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Your duties will also encompass preparing journal entries, balancing accounts, and generating financial statements, including Income & Expense Statements, Balance Sheets, and Bank Reconciliations.

You will oversee accounts payable and receivable ledgers, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments, and maintaining accurate records of amounts due from various sources. Additionally, you will handle cash receipts, prepare daily reports, and reconcile bank balances with book balances.

Furthermore, you will classify receipts and disbursements according to established codes, maintain billing records, and prepare summary reports. Your role will involve issuing checks, maintaining fund accounts, and preparing remittance forms for Divisional Headquarters.

You will generate complex financial documentation and technical reports, maintain checking accounts, and ensure accurate record-keeping in databases and logs.

In collaboration with management, you will participate in budget preparation, review, and adjustments, as well as assist in routine audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in accounting, bookkeeping, business, or a related field, along with two years of progressively complex bookkeeping experience utilizing a computerized accounting system, is required. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.

Licenses and Certifications:

Successful completion of a background check is mandatory. A valid State Driver's license may be required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements, communicate effectively in English, and perform routine and complex mathematical computations. Proficiency in operating general office equipment is essential.
