Role Summary

The Senior Accountant is tasked with the preparation of comprehensive financial reports and the reconciliation of financial accounts for a specialized portfolio of real estate assets. This position collaborates closely with accounting leadership, property owners, and commercial real estate managers, alongside our lease administration advisory team and fellow accountants within our client services accounting division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations
  • Manage general ledger accounts, providing thorough monthly account analysis and reconciling balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for clients during month-end close
  • Generate journal entries for client properties
  • Work in partnership with the Property Management team for final monthly and quarterly reporting
  • Oversee tenant billing and cash receipt processes
  • Assist in the annual budgeting and forecasting process, including the review of final budgets
  • Uphold GAAP accounting principles and company policies
  • Ensure adherence to internal control compliance measures
  • Provide support in various areas as needed (charge batch posting, receipt posting, audit inquiries, SOC testing, etc.)
  • Mentor and develop accounting staff to enhance their skills and knowledge
  • Engage in special projects as required

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
  • Prior experience in real estate accounting is preferred, but not mandatory
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret financial statements and various types of internal management reports
  • Capability to review and analyze budgets
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and general ledger software, as well as specific real estate-related programs such as Yardi and MRI
  • Exceptional customer service skills and a collaborative approach are essential. Must maintain professionalism at all times, even in high-pressure situations
