Job Overview

Position Summary:
The Cloud Infrastructure and Systems Specialist will oversee the architecture, deployment, and upkeep of Dynamic Map Platform North America, Inc.'s IT infrastructure. This position demands a highly qualified individual with substantial expertise in handling intricate, hybrid IT frameworks. The ideal candidate will possess a robust foundation in systems management, network oversight, security protocols, and the migration of data and servers.

Main Responsibilities:

Server Management:

  • Execute server management duties, including user/group/LDAP management, security settings, group policies, print services, and monitoring event log alerts and anomalies.
  • Evaluate and oversee datacenter performance, health, and utilization with management tools, addressing hardware challenges as they occur; specify, install, deploy, test, and maintain new servers and virtual machines as required.
  • Support internal infrastructure needs, including laptops, desktops, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, and network segments.
  • Design, install, configure, and maintain computing systems, servers, networks, and associated infrastructure.
  • Monitor system performance to ensure reliability and availability.
  • Implement and manage security protocols to safeguard data and systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network complications.
  • Conduct regular system backups and recovery operations.

Database and Security Management:

  • Administer user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Create and maintain documentation for systems and processes.
  • Collaborate with IT personnel and departments to facilitate business operations.
  • Engage with IT service management to resolve issues and provide support.
  • Work with other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root causes, and deliver technical assistance.
  • Perform routine audits of systems, including backup and security measure testing.
  • Deploy scalable processing frameworks utilizing cloud or software-defined hardware, or server-less methodologies where applicable.
  • Collaborate closely with Software Engineers to establish automated deployment strategies for reliable processing pipelines.
  • Utilize existing tools to modify and maintain software stacks in a stable and consistent manner.
  • Support all cloud service requests from the R&D, Tools, and Publishing teams.
  • Develop software tools to operationalize algorithms both locally and in the cloud.
  • Manage cloud assets including Data Lake, Lidar Tiles, and related data.
  • Coordinate with database engineers to oversee database storage, backups, and replication strategies.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Recommend and implement best practices for high reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, MIS, or a related field with a focus on Computer/Software Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in system administration of cloud and on-premises IT services.
  • Proficiency in both Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Experience with virtualization and container technologies (e.g., VMware, Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI).
  • Exceptional troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, RHCE, CCNA) are advantageous.
Work Environment:
  • Operates in a dynamic office setting with multiple priorities and competing demands.
  • Standard office hours with occasional requirements for additional work during peak periods.
  • May involve extended periods of data review on computers.
  • Some travel may be required.
Assets:
  • Experience with test-driven DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience in continuous integration environments.
  • Familiarity with configuration management and ALM systems such as Atlassian, Jenkins, Bitbucket, and Polarian is a plus.
  • Experience in migrating servers and/or data across systems is a plus.
  • Proficiency in coding with Python.
