Job Summary

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking a highly skilled Food Service Equipment Mechanic III to join our team. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repairs of all commercial food service equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair all commercial food service equipment, including gas, electrical, steam, plumbing, and refrigeration systems.
  • Develop and execute a routine preventative maintenance program for all University-owned food service equipment.
  • Develop a service record system to document maintenance and repairs on all University-owned food service equipment.
  • Create and maintain a food service equipment, parts, and supplies inventory system.
  • Conduct in-service staff training on proper cleaning and daily maintenance of equipment.
  • Respond to emergency and after-hour food service equipment failures to ensure continuation of service operations.
  • Assist with routine and preventative repairs and maintenance in other skilled trades as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all current codes, regulations, requirements, policies, and guidelines.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in food service equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of commercial food service equipment and systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
