Role Summary
We are seeking a Chemical Engineer with a focus on Analytical Instruments Technology to contribute to our innovative projects at Veolia WTS. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the development of advanced analytical measurement systems for new product initiatives. Your contributions will be essential in launching innovative analytical instruments that align with the changing demands of the industry, while also supporting the ongoing excellence of our current product offerings.

Responsibilities
  • Lead chemical engineering initiatives within a cross-functional team for both new and existing instrumentation, including project scoping, coordinating updates from fellow chemical engineers, and identifying risk mitigation strategies to achieve project objectives.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members by offering training, technical support, and expertise.
  • Provide technical advice to other departments to assist with departmental or business objectives.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines on hardware and software designs, including evaluating and implementing new components and analytical methods.
  • Execute testing plans utilizing various analytical instruments and sensitive measuring devices, constructing test fixtures as needed.
  • Analyze data using robust statistical and engineering principles, summarize findings, author quality test reports, and communicate conclusions effectively.
  • Create and maintain design documentation, including models, calculations, process flow diagrams, and system/sub-system operations.
  • Communicate the status and schedule of assigned tasks to project and department managers effectively.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Understanding of Analytical Instruments applications within our target markets and the significance of achieving product objectives.
  • Ability to convert user requirements into concrete design specifications, developing new designs while identifying and scoping design, technical risk mitigation, and verification activities.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude for designing and assembling test fixtures, troubleshooting, and repairing analytical instruments.
  • Laboratory skills, including pipetting, chemical handling, and solution preparation.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft applications, with the capability to perform statistical analyses using Excel, JMP, or other statistical tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with technical colleagues both on-site and remotely, adapting to various communication styles.
  • Ability to interpret technical materials, including part drawings, specification sheets, vendor literature, and equipment manuals.
  • Capability to select parts and equipment based on design requirements for chemical compatibility, operating conditions, and reliability.

Education & Experience
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, analytical chemistry, or chemistry with an emphasis on analytical chemistry.
  • 3+ years of experience in product design and development of measurement devices, analytical instrumentation, or medical devices.

Preferred:
  • Familiarity with water chemistry and established methods for measuring contaminants in water matrices.
  • Knowledge of water treatment processes and regulatory standards for pharmaceutical water production and analysis.
  • Understanding of water treatment processes for municipal and semiconductor-grade water production.
