Position Summary

The role involves providing technical and group-level leadership for process engineers engaged in both development and commercial products, alongside personal technical contributions. This position emphasizes strong leadership and documentation in process development, troubleshooting, optimization, and manufacturing support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing process engineers and ensuring the reliability and compliance of production documents.
  • Engaging with management to establish project objectives and departmental goals.
  • Training and mentoring team members to foster a culture of technical excellence.
  • Planning, assigning, and directing work while addressing performance and resolving issues.
Essential Duties

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Evaluating new processes for manufacturing, considering safety, cost, and equipment.
  • Conducting process development through modeling or lab testing, focusing on scale-up parameters.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Providing technical support to manufacturing, including authoring process documentation and training materials.
  • Supporting process validation by addressing technical requirements and deviations.
  • Offering on-floor support to manufacturing operations as needed.
  • Generating estimates for commercial scale fits and providing input for capital projects.
  • Leading interdisciplinary technical teams on complex projects.
Leadership Responsibilities

The group leader is responsible for:

  • Setting goals and priorities for the team.
  • Coaching and mentoring less experienced engineers.
  • Ensuring effective communication within the department and with external stakeholders.
Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Process Engineering within a pharmaceutical or fine chemicals manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering software.
