Overview

Affiliated Oncologists is seeking a highly skilled Patient Services Coordinator to join our team. As a Patient Services Coordinator, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support in our oncology clinic.

Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner, checking them in and informing clinical staff of their arrival.
  • Provide and explain necessary paperwork for patients to complete prior to examination, collecting and filing patient forms.
  • Update patient demographics and insurance information in the system, collecting copays and balances, and providing receipts.
  • Answer, screen, and respond to routine questions, routing to appropriate personnel or taking thorough messages.
  • Page clinic personnel as needed, communicating messages accurately and timely according to procedures.
  • Check patients out after examination, scheduling returning appointments in accordance with physician and/or office guidelines.
  • Provide patients with appointment details, including time, location, directions, and instruction sheets.
  • Record patient cancellations and missed appointments, rescheduling as needed.
  • Notify appropriate staff of cancellations and make note in patient charts.
  • Provide general administrative support, filing charts and forms, and maintaining a neat and orderly lobby area.
  • Adhere to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines regarding patient records.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some receptionist or office experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) required.
  • Must successfully complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying the position.
  • Demonstrates adaptability, handling day-to-day work challenges confidently and adjusting to multiple demands and shifting priorities.
  • Shows work commitment, setting high standards of performance and working efficiently to achieve them.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be present at the employee site during regularly scheduled business hours and regularly required to sit or stand and talk or hear.

Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time, occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 lbs.

Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.


Work Environment

The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.

Work will involve in-person interaction with co-workers and management and/or clients.

Work may require minimal travel by automobile to office sites.
