Job Posting:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant I (Pre-Award and Post-Award Specialist) to join our team. This role is essential in managing the financial aspects of research projects and ensuring compliance with various regulations.

Position Overview:

The Accountant I will oversee the Pre-Award and Post-Award processes, which includes initiating proposals, managing budgets, and ensuring adherence to agency and university guidelines. This position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively with Principal Investigators (PIs) and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Award Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the proposal process for grant projects through various electronic submission systems.
  • Collaborate with PIs to develop budgets that comply with university and agency regulations.
  • Act as a liaison during the proposal submission process, ensuring all guidelines are met.
  • Stay informed about compliance rules and regulations relevant to the institution and funding agencies.

Post-Award Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to PIs with post-award administration, including budget adjustments and compliance issues.
  • Monitor accounts to ensure financial accuracy and compliance with Cost Accounting Standards.
  • Assist in the closeout process for grant projects, ensuring all financial documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Attend meetings to stay updated on finance and research-related matters.
Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree with relevant accounting coursework or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in financial software and strong organizational skills are essential.

Preferred Skills:

Experience in Contracts and Grants management and familiarity with financial management systems will be advantageous.
