Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager/Senior Roadway Design Engineer to join our team at Smith Seckman Reid. As a key member of our engineering design and consulting firm, you will be responsible for leading projects of low to medium scope and complexity, ensuring timely delivery of quality products and services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Confirm project scope and requirements with clients and stakeholders, working closely with the Client Relationship Manager and Operations Director as needed.
  • Develop and manage project financial plans, including proposal letters and man-hour budgets.
  • Lead project kick-off meetings to convey project scope, client expectations, and man-hour budgets to the design team.
  • Collaborate with the design team to confirm final man-hour budgets and propose interim milestones to the schedule.
  • Monitor project budget and schedule, ensuring a profit variance of +/- 5%.
  • Ensure project documentation is completed and stored appropriately.
  • Facilitate communication between clients and the project team, documenting important issues.
  • Identify and administer fees for additional services as needed.
  • Develop and implement a proactive Quality Assurance/Quality Control plan for projects.
  • Manage the Construction Administration process to ensure building systems are installed consistently with the design and quality standards.
  • Supervise the job close-out process to ensure documentation, filings, and project debriefs are complete.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited college.
  • Four years of relevant experience in transportation design and analysis.
  • Must be a Registered Professional Engineer.
  • 5 years' experience in project management/execution with an understanding of standard project management processes/procedures.
  • TDOT experience and LPA experience (Local Programs Administration) are highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with plant operations from the maintenance level through and including the executive level.
  • Proven track record of accomplishments as a project manager or engineer on industrial projects, with the ability to supervise and direct a team of engineers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, including macros.
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task while working on numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Possess and able to maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and MS Project.
