Position Overview

Kaiser Aluminum is globally recognized for its exceptional quality, driven by innovative thinking, reliability, and a steadfast commitment to customer satisfaction. We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineering Project Manager (remote) to become a vital part of our team.

The Senior Electrical Engineering Project Manager (remote) will leverage their expertise to oversee various projects, focusing on the implementation of new designs and enhancements to electrical systems. This role involves managing multiple projects from initial concept through to commissioning and finalization. Projects will encompass capacity, process, and reliability enhancements across different areas of the facility. The position requires collaboration with plant management, maintenance teams, vendors, contractors, and engineering personnel.

This role can be performed remotely or near a Kaiser Plant location, with travel required for project sites, potentially up to seventy-five percent (75%) of the time.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range of $90,000-$130,000 annually, based on experience

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead cross-functional project teams to define project scope and requirements
  • Develop and manage project scope, resource allocation, budget, and timelines
  • Prepare capital expenditure authorizations
  • Create specifications and assess technical engineering and equipment bid submissions
  • Oversee engineering, equipment procurement, and installation contracts
  • Coordinate and manage installations and scheduled outages
  • Monitor and report on project performance, timelines, and budget adherence
  • Review design documentation for compliance with contractual obligations and Kaiser standards
  • Collaborate with internal Operations, Maintenance, Technical, and Engineering teams to meet project goals
  • Participate in the final evaluation of new installations, including factory and site acceptance testing
  • Assist in troubleshooting electrical control systems and equipment
  • Support electrical safety initiatives and uphold Kaiser’s electrical standards
  • Adhere to all Safety, Quality, and Environmental Regulations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSET) is mandatory.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
  • Proven track record in managing projects within a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in developing functional and performance-based specifications.
  • Familiarity with electrical and control system design, including essential documents like schematic diagrams and control narratives.
  • Understanding of low and medium voltage electrical systems, AC/DC motors, drive systems, and compliance with National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E.
  • Knowledge of control system theory, instrumentation, PLC-based control systems, and safety systems.
  • Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and MS Project.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in teams.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Work Environment:
  • Approximately 50% of the role involves office work with standard safety precautions, while the other 50% is conducted in a manufacturing environment with exposure to operating machinery.
