Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ultrasound Imaging Technologist to join our team at UNC Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing and interpreting ultrasound procedures to provide accurate and timely diagnostic information to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct sonography/ultrasound screening procedures to ensure safe and effective use of equipment and optimal care outcomes.
  • Read and comprehend imaging orders, engaging with radiologists when necessary to ensure accurate interpretation.
  • Interview patients to understand risk factors and prior medical history, and select appropriate scanning protocols and imaging parameters.
  • Guide patients through their examination, applying subject matter expertise and cultural competency to explain the exam and set expectations.
  • Precept entry-level staff and orient new colleagues as assigned, collaborating to plan the workday and patient flow with colleagues.
Requirements
  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of experience working in a clinical imaging role, with three years specifically in ultrasound/sonography.
  • Registration as an Ultrasound/Sonography technologist from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Good understanding of human anatomy, which can be established through education or experience.
  • Experience reading and interpreting complex radiology orders.
  • Experience working with a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional continuing education registration in sonography specializations such as a vascular technologist (RVT) as administered by the ARDMS.
Work Environment

This is a per diem position working variable hours at our PARD RAD location.
