POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is crucial in supporting the provision of Urgent Accommodation Vouchers for individuals affected by domestic violence and intimate partner violence, focusing on establishing client referrals and fostering relationships with hotels that meet program standards for temporary accommodations (up to 14 days). The position will involve direct interaction with clients and community partners, assisting in the arrangement of hotel stays. The Riley Center provides essential shelter and comprehensive support services for survivors of domestic violence.

PROGRAM SERVICES OVERVIEW:

The Urgent Accommodation Voucher Program for Domestic Violence Survivors (UAV-DV) aims to enhance the safety net for survivors by implementing a low-barrier model that allows for quick access to safe temporary housing for those in immediate danger. This program encompasses emergency hotel placements and supportive services designed to stabilize and empower clients, facilitating their transition to longer-term housing solutions within 14 days. Support services include connections to existing resources such as domestic violence shelters, harm reduction programs, public benefits, health services, and behavioral health support.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The position offers a competitive hourly wage of $27.00. St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco provides a comprehensive benefits package, including two Kaiser HMO medical options, optional dental, vision, and life insurance, a 403b retirement plan with employer matching after one year, and an Employee Assistance Program. Employees accrue ten vacation days and ten sick days annually, along with two personal floating holidays and twelve and a half recognized holidays each year.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the management of hotel partnerships to provide confidential temporary shelter for domestic violence survivors for up to 14 days, collaborating with the UAV-DV Case Manager and reporting to the Community Office Program Manager.
  • Ensure that hotel facilities maintain a high standard of care, including cleanliness, safety, and compliance with health codes.
  • Lead outreach and educational initiatives to promote survivor referrals and build partnerships with local housing and service providers.
  • Conduct phone screenings and facilitate emergency hotel bookings for eligible clients during hotel operational hours.
  • Collaborate with local domestic violence organizations to enhance safety measures for survivors.
  • Identify and communicate any maintenance issues at hotel facilities promptly to management.
  • Work alongside the Domestic Violence Case Manager to conduct weekly room inspections.
  • Participate in regular debriefing sessions with the UAV-DV Case Manager and program team.
  • Complete required training and professional development activities promptly.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in social services, psychology, or a related field, or equivalent experience (1+ years in hotel, hospitality, or administrative roles).
  • Completion of at least 40 hours of Domestic Violence Counselor Training meeting California state requirements, or willingness to complete this training within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Strong commitment to open and respectful communication.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations and make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Understanding of the relationship between domestic violence and homelessness, particularly regarding race, class, gender, and sexual identity.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Experience working with diverse communities, including LGBTQI+, immigrant, low-income, and communities of color.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients and colleagues.
  • Commitment to confidentiality in service provision for domestic violence survivors.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with data entry and reporting processes.
  • Knowledge of the San Francisco area is a plus.
  • Alignment with the mission of St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco.
