Position Overview:

MP Materials is a leading provider of rare earth minerals, and we are seeking a highly skilled Mining / Crushing Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating mining and crushing activities to achieve established mine plan objectives within approved budgets, company guidelines, and legal requirements.

Position Description:

The Mining / Crushing Supervisor will be responsible for:

  • Interfaces with various departments to execute safe mining and crushing production
  • Organizes and oversees execution of mine plan and daily maintenance interaction
  • Takes part in developing mining / crushing policies and standards
  • Coordinates operator development training with a focus on safety procedures and methods
  • Communicates and tracks maintenance work orders and production orders
  • Oversight of construction & development projects
  • Supervision of mining / crushing crew employees
  • Troubleshoots and provides corrective solutions to safety and production impacts
  • Assists short-range planning and survey with timely execution, clean-up, and site preparation
  • Responsible for motivating personnel to accomplish company objectives
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
  • Plans and directs mining operations in a safe and efficient manner to ensure equipment operability levels to achieve safe production goals
  • Collects and enters production data for reporting KPIs, productivity, and performance
  • Reviews employee timecard accuracy, fixes errors, and approves according to payroll schedule
  • Reviews mining / crushing activities and work performance to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state safety regulations
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in mining / crushing operations or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory or managerial experience preferred
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • High School Diploma required
  • Valid Driver's License and a good driving record are required to drive company vehicles on property
Desired Qualities:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, SAP
  • Management skills, including recruiting, hiring, and developing team culture to maximize growth
  • Ability to work with all levels and departments within the organization, including senior management
  • Ability to work with internal customers and external agencies for compliance & controls
  • Intermediate to advanced level of understanding of open pit mining operations and crushing operations
  • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization

Working Conditions - Our facility sits at an elevation of 4700 feet.

Department of Labor Physical Demand Category - Employees are subject to extreme weather conditions: freezing winter weather and extreme desert summer heat.

Work is in an open pit mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, toxic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, explosives, fumes, or airborne particles.

Physical Demands - Manual dexterity; sense of touch; sense of smell; speaking clearly; hearing-speech range; hearing - all ranges; seeing, reading, and comprehensions; seeing - distant/near; depth perception; color vision.

While performing the responsibilities of the Mining / Crushing Supervisor, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to stand and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel, and to manipulate equipment. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employee must pass a respiratory fit test. Employee must be able to lift 50 lbs.
