POSITION SUMMARY
This role is essential for ensuring the cleanliness, hygiene, safety, and security of designated facilities within the district, while also preparing spaces for various events as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain cleanliness in assigned areas to foster a safe and sanitary environment conducive to learning and operational functions.

Perform a variety of custodial tasks including vacuuming, dusting, mopping, sweeping, disinfecting restrooms, and managing waste disposal. Responsibilities also include replacing light bulbs and restocking restroom supplies.

Secure buildings by locking and unlocking as per established protocols, operating alarm systems, and monitoring after-hours facility usage. Report any unauthorized access, emergencies, or other incidents as necessary.

Assist in setting up and dismantling equipment and furniture for meetings, classrooms, and special events. Provide support to staff and students in locating necessary equipment and conduct emergency cleaning as required.

Conduct thorough cleaning during school breaks and summer periods to prepare facilities for the upcoming school year, including floor maintenance and carpet cleaning.

Utilize and care for assigned cleaning equipment and tools to maintain floors, walls, carpets, and furniture.

Wash windows, walls, and other surfaces, and perform minor repairs as needed, such as small area painting and maintenance tasks.

Assist with outdoor maintenance duties, including clearing walkways, mowing lawns, and managing snow and ice removal.

Handle supplies and materials as directed, including receiving deliveries when necessary.

Perform pressure washing in various areas as required and monitor building heating and ventilation systems.

COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIPS
Maintain effective communication with students, parents, staff, and the community to ensure safety and foster positive relations.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Participate in district committees and work teams as needed. Perform other related tasks as assigned.

REPORTING STRUCTURE
This position reports to the District Custodial Supervisor, with direct oversight from the assigned Building Administrator.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role may involve frequent interruptions and requires interaction with a diverse range of individuals. Flexibility in work schedule may be necessary based on facility usage.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift or move items weighing up to sixty (60) pounds. The role involves moderate to heavy physical activity, including frequent bending and twisting.

QUALIFICATIONS
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with at least six months of relevant experience. Familiarity with cleaning equipment and techniques is preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Bilingual capabilities in English and Spanish are advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate cultural awareness and the ability to foster an inclusive environment.

Effective communication and customer service skills are essential, along with the ability to identify cleaning materials and operate various cleaning tools.

Knowledge of basic maintenance tasks, including plumbing and carpentry, is beneficial. Understanding safety and security protocols is crucial.

REQUIREMENTS
Background checks and fingerprinting are mandatory to ensure safety standards are met.

Completion of training in risk management and infection control is required upon hiring.
