Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic 4-HVAC

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Mechanic 4-HVAC to join our team at the Washington State Penitentiary. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, as well as other mechanical equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct, supervise, train, and work with a crew of incarcerated individuals in the performance of skilled electrical and mechanical work, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems, automated building control systems, appliances, refrigeration systems, and other associated equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for tool control, incarcerated individual supervisory files, safety compliance, work orders, material use, and requisition.
  • Initiate requests for materials, supplies, and equipment, and estimate, plan, and coordinate resources needed to complete projects and routine work.
  • Consult with the chain of command and vendors on department needs, and prepare reports and performance evaluations for incarcerated individuals.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Possess a valid Washington State Electrical License (EL06A or EL01).
  • Possess an EPA type 2 or Universal Refrigerant Card.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Journeyman level HVAC/R certification, or two (2) years certified HVAC school plus two (2) years service experience, or four (4) years journeyman level service experience.
  • Operate motor vehicles, machinery, and construction equipment.
  • Perform welding and metal fabrication.
  • Knowledge of small appliance troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools and tool repair.
  • Knowledge of security practices as they relate to tool control.
