Position Overview:
This role involves overseeing and executing technical accounting functions related to the budget and special projects within the Budget Services Division of the New Orleans Police Department.

Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be tasked with establishing and maintaining a comprehensive accounting system for various fund accounts sourced from state, federal, and external agencies, ensuring adherence to all applicable regulations and policies.

Additionally, the role includes the preparation and oversight of both technical and fiscal components of the Police Department's operational and capital budgets.

The incumbent will supervise a team of accountants and support staff responsible for maintaining fiscal records for multiple grant programs, while also liaising with all reporting agencies to guarantee the accuracy and completeness of records and reports.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • A Master's Degree from an accredited institution, accompanied by three (3) years of professional exempt experience in accounting or grants management, including fiscal oversight. At least one (1) year of this experience must include supervisory responsibilities.
  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, along with five (5) years of professional exempt experience in accounting or grants management, including fiscal oversight. At least two (2) years of this experience must include supervisory responsibilities.

Additional Information:
Professional experience is defined as work in a position that required a bachelor's degree for entry. Compensation above the minimum may be offered based on a review of the applicant pool, verified experience, education, and/or relevant certifications.

This position requires a probationary period.
